Hi, I’m Docé, a wanderer born and raised in Northern California. At the tender age of 18, I moved to Washington, D.C., to attend the illustrious Howard University to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree. When I first stepped foot on The Yard, I immediately experienced culture shock as I met so many brilliant young minds from all over the world who looked just like me! That moment ignited my interest in new places, people, and experiences as I knew there was so much more to discover around the world.
I had my passport for four years before I finally decided to book my first international trip. To the readers who haven’t taken that leap yet, don’t worry, I was there too, and you’ll know when the time is right. What gave me that extra push to travel internationally, you asked? Money owed to me, yeah, you know that feeling when you realize you could’ve used your hard-earned money on yourself instead of any uncertainty about its return. Fortunately, I did receive my money back and booked one of my dream destinations, Peru! My first international trip was exploring Machu Picchu as a solo traveler with a tour group, and it was everything I imagined it to be!
